Don Danila, a retired fisheries biologist, will discuss various methods of controlling nuisance aquatic weeds in lakes, including physical, mechanical, chemical, and biological means.  A focus will be on the potential use of a sterile fish species, the grass carp in East Lyme’s Pattagansett Lake.  Facts about this fish, which has been successfully used elsewhere in CT, will be presented.  The challenges and costs of aquatic weed control also will be outlined.
