(Snow Date - Saturday January 18)
This program takes place in the Senior Center.
Wildlife benefits from native vegetation that grows along the banks of inland streams, rivers, and ponds and offers services such as flood mitigation and filtering pollutants. But how can the vegetation directly benefit humans? This talk on Edible Riparian Buffers will delve into the science and creativity behind intentional plantings that mimic natural ecosystems. This talk coincides with developing an edible riparian project in Vernon, Connecticut, headed by the North Central Conservation District, where speaker, Ginny Patsun, works as a conservation soil specialist.
