Holiday Break Drop-in Programs

Enjoy free activities in the Children’s Storytime during the holiday school vacation. All activities are available while supplies last, and are designed for children ages 2 and up with a caregiver.



Monday: All Aboard!

Monday mornings 9:30 to 11:30 in the Storytime Room for ages 2 and up with a caregiver.
Stop by the Children’s Storytime Room to free build with our reserve collection of wooden trains!
Registration not required.

Tuesday: Storytime Fun for All Ages

Tuesday mornings 10:30 to 11:00 in the Community Center Activity Room for children of all ages.
Starting January 14
Read, sing, and dance with Miss Rebecca! Enjoy books, interactive songs, and movement activities. Have fun dancing with scarves, shaking shakers, and playing parachute.
Registration not required.
We will not meet on December 31, January 7, February 11, and April 15.


Wednesday: Baby Sign and Sing

Wednesdays mornings, 10:30 to 11:00 in the Children’s Storytime Room.
For ages birth to three, and older siblings are always welcome.
Starting January 15

Learn baby sign language with Miss Sarah at this fun, interactive storytime for babies and toddlers! Sing, play, dance and learn through stories, rhymes, puppets and songs.
Registration not required.
We will not meet on January 8 and April 16.

Thursday: Sing & Stomp

Thursday mornings 10:30 to 11:00 in the Community Center Activity Room for all ages.
Starting January 16

Elementary Students:
Read to Hazel the Therapy Dog

Tuesday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 in the Children’s Storytime Room. For readers ages 6 and up.
Starting January 14

Children gain confidence by reading aloud to a non-judgmental, friendly therapy dog! Nicole Goolsbey and Hazel are volunteers with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Hazel is four years old. She loves water, toys, and getting lots of pets.
Sign up each week for a ten minute time slot with Hazel.
To allow more children to read to Hazel, sign ups are limited to two weeks at a time.

We will not meet on February 18 and April 15.


Calming Storytime

Thursday on January 16 and February 20, 2:30 - 3:10pm in the Olive Chendali Room.
Geared for toddlers and preschoolers with an adult caregiver.
Does your child need a low-key, less-crowded storytime? This storytime is limited to 8 families.
Registration is required at 860-739-6926 ext. 2.


Young Adult After School Craft Days



Casey Carle’s Bubblemania!

Monthly Take and Make Craft Kits

Craft kits are designed by our staff for ages 4 - 8 to complete at home. They are available starting the first Friday of each month while supplies last at the Children’s Library Desk.
